Description
Harvard Pond in Central Massachusetts on a quiet and foggy morning in fall. Autumn leaves make out the foreground while the island disappears in to the fog. Photograph was taken in October of 2013 on an early photo tour to Central and Western Massachusetts. Upon arrival I was awarded with dense fog that slowly cleared by the minutes and made the island and its trees more visible. I incorporated the leaves and marsh grass as an effective foreground feature and also to provide the image with some contrasting color.
Petersham is pronounced "Peter's ham". The town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States is located in Central Mass. It has a population of about 1,200. Petersham is home to a fair amount of conservation land, including the beautiful Quabbin Reservation, mysterious Harvard Forest, the Swift River Reservation, and Federated Women's Club State Forest.

I so love a foggy atmosphere. Love the reed coming up from the water and the scattered autumn leaves floating on the water. The clump of trees lets us know that is the other side of the lake but beyond is a mystery.
