Painting - Mixed Media
A bright sun filled sky with glorious clouds rolling over head, Cyryn was cruising the square in his hometown, Goderich, Ontario when Nena - 99 Red balloons came alive with the faint synthesized sound and her soft magical voice singing. As the bass kicked in, he tested the sound system in the Journey and cranked it. Reliving his childhood, he started to bob his head, jiggling and wiggling in his seat. And then he saw the newest local ice cream shop, Scoops. He remembered the bright and beautiful colours and retro decor along with the friendly staff while people in the handfuls were enjoying their choices of ice cream.
Sly Kone was created in his mind instantly!
With an arsenal of his favourite 80s hit music, Abstract, Modernism, and Pop Art collided together as Cyryn brought out a mixed media of art onto a 6 foot by 3 foot custom frame.
"When I was painting I could not help but go down memory lane AND singing along to every song in my "Retro Folder" I created. Listening to these tunes brought out a very playful side of me. While thinking of all the crazy and fun things I used to do. I remember my cousin Sandra introducing me to The Flock of Seagulls. She was amazing and still is to this day. Her wild hair was impressive along with her friends, Lindsey and Doug. I will never forget them.
Sly Kone is dedicated to my cousin Sandra St. Clair-Fletcher along with the local ice cream store here in Goderich, Scoops.
There were 26 songs that were in Cyryns retro folder while creating Sly Kone. Can you guess one of them? Email Cyryn at Fyrcyd@hotmail.com and if you guess a correct song you will receive a discount code that you can use towards a purchase on his website.
