Soda Ash Test
Ceramic Art - Ceramics Cone 10
This piece was thrown on the wheel, then used bush work on the surface with iron overglaze, then placed on a sagger, the sagger contained soda ash and copper, afterwards fired to cone 10 in a gas kiln, the soda ash volatize inside the sagger keeping the kiln safe. problem, the sagger contained too much soda ash so the glaze came out of the sagger, letting it stuck on the shelve, the iron overglazed melted completly and turned blue, i still consider this piece a happy accident.
