SPLENDOR of AUTUMN by KAREN WILES
Karen Wiles' image "SPLENDOR OF AUTUMN" is a beautiful example of why thousands flock to the mountains of the east for a glimpse of the breath taking colors of Autumn! The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a United States National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site that straddles the ridgeline of the Great Smoky Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which are a division of the larger Appalachian Mountain chain. The border between Tennessee and North Carolina runs northeast to southwest through the centerline of the park. It is the most visited national park in the United States. On its route from Maine to Georgia, the Appalachian Trail also passes through the center of the park.
Nature's inspiration fuels rejuvenating creativity. It's time to watch the leaves change in the marvelous, misty mountains and stream-filled ecology of America's most visited national park, the Great Smoky Mountains straddling Tennessee and North Carolina. In Great Smoky Mountains National Park, autumn's colorful environment blends with sounds of wild, running water and visions of mists and clouds on ancient mountains. Superb writing inspiration awaits writers, young and old, in the water rich mountains and temperate, wilderness forest environment of the Great Smoky Mountains.
The astonishingly accessible and beautiful Smoky Mountains region of East Tennessee and North Carolina offers incredible scenic vistas of Appalachian hills. Its wild hills appear as waves upon waves of ancient mountains in a scenic beauty described by the Cherokee Indians as shaconage, meaning blue, like smoke. Whether at sunrise, midday, or sunset, the tremendous vistas of Great Smoky National Park in their seasonal glory are easily accessible through numerable auto tour routes. It is a natural feast for the eyes.
