Description:

This is one of a set of light oil sketches that I did to represent Springtime here in Georgia. It is a way to loosen up after the tight egg tempera paintings that I usually do. I plan to do more plein air paintings of the area on a regular basis. This is a old farmhouse with tall hay that has been sitting, undisturbed all Winter.

Beautiful realistic painting, Peter, and great choice and view of subject. I really like your many paintings of old building, and especially the pen and ink drawings. But my favorites, at the moment (always subject to change!) are GRAY FARM BUILDING and RURAL DELIVERY. I guess the more decrepit the more I like it! Something about the feeling that they are older, have been around longer to serve and share with people and their lives. (I know that is not necesarily true). I like your story about your wife's request and how you found such a productive -- better than usual compromise, I think -- solution! You should be Secretary of State! Congratulations on the print sale, and may you have many more. Keep drawing and painting.
