Description
Stafford Leak Warren (1896-1981), US physician, with a model of buildings of the UCLA bioscience department. Warren joined the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1926. It was there that he developed stereoscopic mammography (breast X-ray) techniques in the 1930s. Warren worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. After the war, he was one of the founders of the UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He argued for the medical buildings to be integrated with the rest of the campus, as shown here. Warren was Vice Chancellor of the UCLA Health Sciences Center, and Dean of the UCLA Medical School (opened 1955).
