Description:

I am me, and I try to remain true to that which I have discovered in me. I have seen darkness, I have experienced the seeming abyss. I live with pain. I stand in front of it, remembering the past, contemplating the present, curious about the future. We all have past regrets, sadness...our own personal darkness that haunts us. That we have to remain strong and aware, to remain in front and apart from it.

A lot of time is spent laying out the pencil work of the figure, getting the lines right and setting up the foundation. The lines drive the whole piece, so they need to be executed just right. The dots are the next phase, and that takes even longer, and more patience to avoid coloring the ink in. The dots give the piece depth, shadows and highlights. The final stage is brushing the figure with watercolors, painting the energy. Sometimes heavier, sometimes lighter, the watercolor is the subtle body, equally as important, but highly interpretive.
