Staring Into The Abyss
Photograph - Photograph
From the remote and inaccessible north rim in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, the rapids of the Gunnison River are visible below the 2500-foot sheer rock walls. Looking almost straight down, the feeling of standing on the brink of an abyss is overpowering, but the walls are so steep that seeing the river requires a perspective from the very edge of the ledge.
