Original work is titled "Still Life of 1897 Antonius Stradivarius Violin". Oil on canvas. 24" x 30". Guilded, museum quality frame. First Place winner in Trompe L'oeil at the ASF Creative Arts Competition in LR. , AR. Appeared in ARTnews magazine in December of 2008. For more on this work. visit: http://www.rbmcgrathfineart.com. Still Life of Violin is the twenty seventh painting in my series of still life artworks. I used earth tone colors and soft layers of brush strokes, as I do in many of my paintings, in order to create a lasting visual impression. Art buyers (and art lovers) will see symbolic references to prominent 16th century realist painters like Vermeer and 18th century realist painters like Delacroix, Gericault, and Jacques-Louis David as I offer homage to their artistic vision through my own art.
