Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Inspired by the amphitheatre in El Djem, Tunisia on the edge of the northern Sahara desert, its immense structure stands like Brueghel's Tower of Babel. The building is cutaway to expose the basic internal structure. I was brought up in Chester, a Roman city with its own amphitheatre, and as a consquence of being surrounded by relics of ancient history I have a fascination for Roman and Greek architecture. I love to visit and record the variations on arena and amphitheatre dotted around the Mediterranean. This painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and a written explanation and can be bought as a commemorative gift, or to celebrate an event. The painting is on a square panel and has its sides painted so it is ready to hang without a frame, and can be displayed anywhere: Foyers, restaurants, galleries, shops, workshops, sports venues or in the living room
