Description:

I have tried to create the feeling of awe that mountain climbers get, viewing such scenes. Standing and looking off into wilderness, you sense how small and insignificant you are in the midst of such immensity. You feel diminished, but also privileged being allowed to be where you're at. This climber is standing on a sub-summit of Big Craggy Peak. Big Craggy is 8470 feet above sea level, and is rated number 58 of 100 summits in Washington State. The Craggy's are on the eastern side of the Pasayten Wilderness, about 20 miles northwest of Winthrop, Washington. You are looking with John, the climber, to the northwest and Canada. He is chided on occasion for wearing a baby blue climbing helmet, even though you can tell him from a distance because of it. His friends threaten to buy him a new one.
