What a great old building picture, I imagine this building was there to survive the Great Blizzard! And my family, newly transported by boat from Cork, they survived it too. Wow. All my grandparents were alive then, children, but they never talked about it. Kids see storms differently, more of an adventure. Thanks for the history! VF

Outstanding image and processing. Five years earlier (1883) Krakatoa had erupted in what is today Indonesia. The tremendous amounts of ash that blanketed the atmosphere wreaked havok on the world's weather for several years thereafter. The severity of the 1888 storm is thought to have been one of the consequences of that volcanic eruption
