Description:

Juried into the Colored Pencil Society of America's 18th Annual International Exhibition in Santa Clara, CA - July 22 thru Aug. 20, 2010 ------ Original artwork - 11"x14" - Colored pencil on white Canson paper - Inspired by native South American peoples and their customs of ancestor worship (with "El D?de los Muertos" traditions also in mind), this composition would be considered a "3:33am" creation - one that is born out of a lack of sleep - and was quickly sketched in thumbnail form for the future design. With bright colors and finery, the spirit of the ancestor rejoins the living in the reflections of the bowl of offering. This is a small tribute to the fragile South American ecosystem and the threatened indigenous peoples who live in harmony with nature.
