Sun Over The Paps Of Jura
Photograph - Digital Photography
This was a moment I'd been waiting for when the sun rose above the two "Paps of Jura":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paps_of_Jura on the nearby isle which are so clearly visible from "Port Charlotte":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Charlotte,_Islay on the Rhinns peninsula of the beautiful Inner Hebridean Isle of Islay.
I'd done some preparation using a nifty program you can download to your computer, iPad and iPhone called "Photographers Ephemeris":http://photoephemeris.com. This and a virtual visit in Google Earth really helped me work out the position of the rising, when I should be there on that particular day and where - I hate getting up so early:-) I have to give a special mention and big THANK YOU to Alison at their support desk for her tips and encouragement.
The sun rose where and when Id expected:-) But the whole process went more quickly than Id expected compared with sunset sessions at similar locations in the past. But I got that shot I was out for on my first shoot thanks to Mother Nature, as well:-)
Next day at the same time it was extremely misty though it cleared up later in the day.
Location: Port Charlotte, Isle of Islay, Inner Hebrides, Scotland, UK.
