Painting - Inktense And Black Ink
This painting has been done with Inktense pencils, which is sort of like watercolor pencils, only the pigment laid down turns into ink. So, although part of the painting may look like watercolor, it's really not. Although I guess one could argue that since the pigment turns to ink when one adds water, I guess it really is a watercolor!
I knew I wanted to paint sunflowers and have been inspired by some of my fellow FAA members, by the beauty of sunflowers, so I just made up this scene. I guess it could be thought of as anywhere USA, where there are rolling hills, barns and fields of pumpkins. There's a field of pumpkins just down the road from my house and around October, it is lovely to look at!
Maybe you could also dream that there's a barn party going on in that old barn? We used to have "farm parties" when I was growing up -- our barn wasn't large enough. My parents would put together the biggest bonfire, I'd invite friends over, and we'd roast marshmallows, have popcorn and apples. I spent many happy hours on Saturday night in this way. And around Halloween, we would carve several pumpkins and roast the seeds -- yum!
