Sunset Stroll On A Windy Beach
Digital Art - Digital Abstract
I have such lovely ideas, and I want to execute them by hand, in paint, or by digital in a painterly way, and I set to work with a beautiful image in my head and, I spend a significant amount of time and energy on it before stepping back and thinking ugh, that is nothing like what I wanted. So I pictured this young couple on vacation, holding hands at sunset and strolling through the romantic little wavelets of the incoming tide. The sky is vibrant with all the sunset colors, and the sand is warm from the day's sun. But seriously, folks, I can't draw worth crap and, as good as my intentions were, it turned out looking like a cartoon - drawn by an eight-year-old. If this had been on paper, I would have crumpled it up and thrown it away. On canvas, and I would have just put it away to paint over another day. But the beauty of digital is that you can always trash it up and see what happens. In this case, I actually liked the result. I made an abstract out of the sunset beach - and I even left the little couple to enjoy their stroll, but the lady's hair is blowing about and she has to hold it out of her face. These people are not old enough to represent the sunset couple I envisioned when I began this, so I will try again some other time ... maybe even with actual paint.
