Surgery lesson. Oil painting of Spanish surgeon Diego de Argumosa (centre, 1792-1865) demonstrating hernia surgery on a cadaver. On the plaque behind Argumosa are named past Spanish surgeons and anatomists: Gimbernat, Castello, Ribes, Ysern, Sanchez, Gutierrez, and Capdevila. The surgeons gathered around Argumosa are (left to right): standing: Busto, Asuero, Santero, Salazar, Quijano, Soler, Martinez, Encinas, and Magaz; seated: Solis, Corral, Alonso, Calvo, Toca, Creus, and Forquet. Painted by Antonio Bravo in 1885, 'Lesson 10: The Operation' is in the entrance hall of the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
