Thanks Charles for posting your comments. There is no gold leaf on that particular piece, it's a process of using dye's, waxes and wood burning. The book is a conglomeration of gourd artists across the country, published by Sterling/Chapelle Publishing. I was fortunate enough to get the cover shot.

Hi Mira, was rummaging around the FAA site and came your blog which led me to the photo of the magazine cover. That is a strong piece of work that transends being a gourd. It looks as if you have used gold leaf on several areas, did you and if not how did you come so close to look of gold? Have yet to get to your other sites but I shall.
