Description
First Nations people named it Takakkaw which roughly translates as "it is magnificent" in the Cree language. As I first glimpsed Takakkaw Falls during my summer drive on Yoho Valley Road in Yoho National Park (British Columbia, Canada), I could hardly believe your eyes. First at its magnificence, and second at the clean clean air! On a sunny day, it was so clear that there didn't appear to be one particle of anything in the air. It has a total height of 384 m (1259'), ranking it as one of the highest in Canada. Even though it is a narrow waterfall, the water is thundering over the cliff and sending spray a hundred or more meters downstream. Fed by the Daly Glacier above, Takakkaw Falls' flow is at its peak in summer when glacial meltwater is running freely. Magnificent hardly describes it!
