Taking A Break
Painting - Oil
Even a prospector bitten by the "Gold Fever" bug has to take a break to warm up and nourish his tired body. His meager dinner may only consist of bitter coffee and a plate of beans, but after a day of panning this few moments of rest are welcomed. It took a sturdy man with courage and strength to brave the loneliness and dangers of the west, but it seemed there was no end to the number of men that packed up a few tools, their Winchester rifle and their dreams to follow the setting sun to states like Nevada, Colorado and California. Few struck it rich and many lost their life but they all left an imprint on the west.
This piece was painted in my Las Vegas studio as a tribute to the Miners of the Sierra Nevada's.
