Painting - Oil On Linen Canvas
New Zealand (Aotearoa) Maori. Tamihana Tamaki was a very important respected Tohunga (Spiritual leader) who lived in the Waikato (North Island of New Zealand). He was a much respected leader but chose to live at MT Pirongia as a semi recluse. His Moko (Tatoo) is a description of his Iwi (Tribe) parents and grandparents. His skills and rank are intricately detailed and recorded in each mark. People feel his strength power and spiritual guidance still eminates to this day.
