Description
Legend has it that a farmer named Cebe Tate went out into the swamp between Apalachicola and Carrabelle Florida with a shotgun and hunting dogs to kill the cougar that had been hunting his livestock. He ended up lost in the swampland for seven days and seven nights being attacked by bugs and bit by a snake. He drank from the dark waters of the swamp to quench his thirst. He made it out and lived long enough to say; "My name is Cebe Tate and I have come from HELL!"
Tate's Hell State Forest has not changed that much since that time in the 1800s but there are roads that give us better access today and if you have a 4x4 you can probably make it out in less time than old Cebe.
