This is a capture of an Okapi, which is a beautiful animal, actually a mammal, and probably not a species most people are aware of. It is believed to be related to both the giraffe and the zebra. It is typically native to the rainforests of the Congo. What really caught my eye was its coat, which is velvety soft, purplish red to dark brown in color and has beautiful striped markings in the backside and legs. This Okapi photo was shot in captivity in Florida. ......... (c) John P. Knapko
