Description
The Poinsettia is a member of the spurge family indigenous to Mexico and Central America. The common English name of this plant, Poinsettia, is taken from an America named Joel Roberts Poinsett. He was the first United States Minister to Mexico and was responsible for introducing the plant in America.
These days, since the flowers bloom during the winter months, and because they are bright red with luscious green too, they have become widely popular at Christmas time. They are a popular plant found on many Christmas cards. Many households do not decorate for the Christmas holidays unless they have Poinsettias included.
