The Best Is Yet To Be - Edinburgh

On my last trip to Edinburgh, I arrived early in the morning, dropped my bags at the hotel, and decided half asleep to take a morning walk up Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park. It's a decision I have never regretted. Thoroughly exhausting, but as you can see, the morning light on a clear winter's day in Scotland can be phenomenal.
And I had an amazing and dramatic landscape ahead of me as I walked through Holyrood Park. It's hard to believe it's situated in the midst of a city!
When I rounded this particular bend on the path up, the light was staggering and I saw a couple ahead who had stopped to talk and I had to capture the moment. And the picture for me, has always been a commentary on the path ahead in life. Roads and paths are so symbolic! The line I think of each time I see this one is from a Robert Browning poem. You may have heard it, perhaps that's how you found your way here?
"Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be..."
It goes on from there but that was the line that occurs to me, that the road ahead always holds promise! And I discovered as I searched for the full text of that Browning piece that there are so many poems and songs that contain the same theme, that the best is on the path ahead of us.
And this picture from a cold but beautiful Scottish morning faithfully illustrates that theme in my eyes!
