West Monroe, LA - United States

I was reading the new book by Robert Gottlieb entitled, 'Great Expectations - The Sons and Daughters of Charles Dickens' and found out about this painting - 'The Black Brunswicker'. It seems that his daughter Katey Dickens posed for it for John Everett Millasis with Dickens consent and both she and the soldier never actually met and were sketched seperately and then placed together in the painting, afterward. It certainly is something to have Charles Dickens as your father, but it's also something to be immortalized in a such a revered piece of art, as well. I've now bought a copy, myself. It's beautiful!
