The Bottom House II - Perryville Ky
Photograph - Digitally Enhanced Photography
This photo, taken on location in 2012, is that of the historic H.P. Bottom House, located on the grounds of the Battle of Perryville [Kentucky] State Historic Site. The namesake of the house, Henry P. Bottom, witnessed the 1862 Civil War Battle of Perryville from his front yard. After the battle, Mr. Bottom and his slaves mass-buried the war dead, then charged the Federal Government for the bill, which he'd never received payment for. For six months after the battle, his house also served as a hospital for the battle wounded.
