Drawing - Wood Engraving
Digital version of out-of-print wood engraving depicting an ominous crossing in rural Nevada, just out my back yard. One must always be careful when walking in the desert, a wrong turn can mean a longer hike!
Block: End-grain Maple
Ink: Tinted Black
Paper: Archival Bristol Buff
Image: I became fascinated with cattle-guards because, in the desert, they are always doorways to a road that seemingly leads absolutely nowhere. In this landscape near Red Rock Canyon, Nevada, the ominous canyon crossing and the cattle-guard represent a double threshold; where will they lead?
