Description
The artists wife in the Cerbat Mountain Foothills of Arizona with Ceaser and Chico in springtime. The foothills overlook beautiful Golden Valley that is part of the vast Mohave Desert. The artists wife and dogs are on the main foothill that winds it's way to the top of the beautiful Castle Rock Peak. The journey to the top of the peak is a 3.7 mile walk on a dirt trail that is quite safe. However there are some steep cliffs so you must be extra cautious. Our four legged companions are low to the ground and proceed up the trail with ease. Experienced horseback riders also use the trail. You may see deer, coyote, mountain lion, jack rabbits, cotton tails, spiders, lizards, various birds, free range cattle, elk, and more. You must be cautious and keep an eye out for snakes. The best time to avoid snakes is in the early spring or in the winter months. It's rare to see snow in this desert climate so we hike the trail quite often. This photograph was taken in early spring. The trail is very hot in the summer and can reach over 100 degrees which can be a dangerous challenge.
