Description:

Walking in these woods reminded me late in the day of the columns of the great cathedrals of Europe. The trunks are much like the French cathedrals, tall and with narrow naves, with the upper branches much like the fan vaulting of the English cathedrals. Of course it was the trees that provided the inspiration for the cathedrals rather than the other way around. With that motif in mind I began to look at the finished photos as pieces of stained glass windows. Putting the five photos together I balked at a simple black border around each image. Rather I wanted to join the living glass panes to the living world on a grand scale. What greater scale than infinity itself, filled with gas and stars.
