The Heart Of Quartz Creek
Painting - Oil On Canvas
This is a portion of Quartz Creek located under a mile up from where it enters the Lewis River. The red rock attracted my attention and then I saw the rock and its reflection that made the heart shape. While I'm not a geologist the rock floor of this stream appears to have been sediment layers that were hardened to metamorphic rock by the molten basalt that ran across this area. See "Lewis River - Lower Falls" for an example of the basalt formed waterfalls found throughout this region.
