Shan...I am with you on the subject matter, generally speaking. I didn't choose it, but since I was asked to do it, I gave it my best shot. In the end, I was satisfied with it, and I did try to inject a certain "Hopper" element into the work (He started out painting houses). I think one thing that helps save it from being a "cozy cottage" painting is the light reflected in the windows.

Not really into cutsie scenes like this, and prefer your other suject matter. I think you did a great job on it even with the windows.

Thanks for the thumbs up on this one. It is not my usual subject matter, but I was commissioned to do this scene specifically. At first I wasn't thrilled by it (I am not architecturally inclined, and the windows made me nuts) but in the end I did come to enjoy it.

I really love this painting. There is something "Hopperish" about it and warm and inviting at the same time, like the path is only used for morning coffee...
