Description
HDR photograph taken on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, while walking towards the 17th Century Tron Kirk. The Tron Kirk was built between 1636 and 1647 to a design by John Mylne, who was the Royal master mason. The kirk was founded by King Charles I to house the congregation displaced from nearby St Giles when he made that church a cathedral. Master Wright, John Scott, designed the internal hammerbeam roof. Excavations in the 1970's revealed foundations of 16th century buildings in Marlins Wynd. The Kirk gets its name from the salt-tron, a public weighing beam once located outside the church.
