I pass by this old boat drawn up from the pond and left mouldering in the grass as I drive home from my errands thirty miles down the road. The boat has seen more than thirty miles in its journey through a life carrying men and fish. Today the boat rides the waves of rye and fescue eternally and the fish wait nearby swimming among the reeds. In the gospels Jesus fed the many with a small basket of loaves and fishes. He had the apostles draw up their nets filled with fish and the fish became a symbol of their faith. Why not the humble boat that took the men to the water and made all those fish possible?
