The Kings Return
Painting - Wood Carving
Basswood carving of a king (chinook) salmon morphing from stylized traditional Northwest Coastal native design into a realistic fish. River rocks are also carved, sets on a hickory base.
The king salmon is the seen by coastal indian tribes of the northwest as one of the most important fish - its return each year signaled the renewal of spring and life.
My family always placed high importance on the salmon and we still celebrate their return and bounty both at my tribal home in Oregon (Coos indian, www.ctclusi.org) and at my physical home in Alaska where I have lived and fished for the past 25 years.
This carving is sold, but if you are interested in a similar piece or wish to commission or purchase any wood carving of a trout, salmon or any fish, feel free to visit my site at www.ReelTrout.com or contact me direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
