Painting - Oil / Canvas
A requested, commissioned portrait of a beautiful lady named Katherine.
" The emotions of a lost love".
I have always been impressed by artists who could paint portraits of people, more over the ones that can paint emotions are my real heroes. To capture that intrinsic subtleness of thought or expression is not only difficult but requires more that just the facial features, hand gestures and overall body language also play a big part, all these elements constitute the sum of truth of the overall image.
Imagine my joy to jump at this challenge when confronted with a request to do an emotional romantic painting in the John Singer Sergeant style. I'm by no means a John Singer Sergeant but his work has alway blown me away and in part was my inspiration to tackle this painting. I also love history and actually found a 100 year old dress for the model to use It fit so snuggly that some of the ancient stitching let go every time she moved as it took a while to complete this image.
(I am willing to consider doing more commissioned portraits)
