Description
This tree trunk represents the life of Harry Hartshorne. He was 90 years old when he painted this artwork. He tried to make 90 rings within the tree trunk. Each ring represents a year of his life. When he was just 1.5 years old, his mother died trying to give birth to a sister. This is the line that runs thru the center of his life (thru the center of the tree trunk). He painted this on a Sunday afternoon on the lawn at Ravinia Festival, during a performance of Mozart's opera Don Giovanni. This painting was proudly displayed at Honky Tonk BBQ in Chicago (located at 18th and Racine). Kurt Olson designed the painting sketch. Harry painted the tree trunk and bark layers. Kurt painted the outer background.
