The Lone Sentinel - Spokane Washington
Season after season in the most intense cold and stifling summer temperatures, this solitary tree on a rocky point overlooking Spokane Falls near the Washington Water Power Post Street Station has been keeping silent watch at its post for decades. Nothing seems to harm it; nothing deters it from its duty. It is probably the most recognized tree in the city of Spokane.
Update: AVISTA, the company who owns the substation, cut the tree down as part of an urban beautification project.
