Description
I managed to paint this rural scene, in West Sussex, England, just before the old fence and hedgerow were removed and replaced with an utilitarian wire fence - what a shame! Hedgerows, as well as being of cultural and historical importance, are essential for their biodiversity and act as wildlife corridors, linking habitats for many species of animals and insects. According to the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (UK government advisers), "Hedgerows are the most significant wildlife habitat over large stretches of lowland UK and are an essential refuge for a great many woodland and farmland pants and animals."

Perfect timing, the fence and hedge really make this feel so authentically country and rural, what a beautiful scene you painted while you have now captured history too. F/L

This feels so alive...as though every bush and tree and blade of grass was indeed twitching in the wind and enjoying this summer day. I love every detail: the fence, the beautiful roofs, the tiny house with chimney. And that sky which also feels real! You are such a fine artist, Rosemary!!! F/L Bravo!
