The Lyllis Esther
Painting - O/c
The Lyllis Esther is a lobster fishing boat at Acadia National Park, Maine. The captain of the boat is pulling one of his traps up from the bottom to have a look. It is late morning and the sun is drenching his back and highlighting the boat on the calm sea. There is still a mist over the ocean so the distant shore has a blue green cast to it. The hint of more lobster buoys in the water is a few hundred yards away. The colours of the boat, white ,brown, red, tan, and blue are reflected in the foreground water. The more distant water has a light mist over it. This was painted in front of the Bass Harbor Head Light. The red bucket on the deck contains the fisherman's bait for his traps. The day holds a lot of promise for the weather forecast is for calm seas. The lobstermans life is a hard one but its good honest work. This painting is protected by copy right .
