Description
Simply enough this is a painting of five farmers transplanting rice painted in a modern impressionist/fauvist style - bird's eye view.
On a deeper sense, and as my inspiration, this is about retirement, slowing down, relaxing and taking over of the younger, and as seen in the painting (3 farmers at upper right corner) - a faster next generation. Interestingly enough, some viewers actually see it in reverse. The 3 farmers are the more experienced workers and they are teaching the 2 younger ones lagging behind.

Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colours flowers, so does art colour life. ― John Lubbock CONGRATULATIONS ON SALE!
