Description
The plaza in the center of the small town, Ardales, Spain, provides a place to get together with a cerveza or glass of wine on a warm summer day.
A municipality in the province of Malaga in southern Spain, is popular with tourists who enjoy camping, biking boating and hiking in the stunning countryside along the border of the Ronda mountains.
Ardales has been home to people as far back as the Neolithic period, and later to the Romans and the Moors. All left their mark, from 30,000 year old cave paintings, to forts and the mosque the became the foundation for the 15th century church that still stands today. It's name, Ardales, comes from the Moors who called it Ard-Allah, or Land of Allah.
Ardales offers many delightful small hotels and rural resorts, as well as campgrounds for visitors to enjoy.
