Description:

The prototypical solitary and patron saint of the great Carmelite order of friars and nuns, the Prophet Elijah is one of the outstanding figures of the Old Testament.

This icon shows him in the desert in solitary communion with God. Wrapped in his heavy mantle of contemplation, he is brought food by the animals while the Brook of Charith flows by his feet. Based upon a Greek original, this icon is written in egg tempera and 23k gold leaf upon a handcrafted poplar panel. Also available as a limited edition, hand signed print, matted to a size of 16"x20.
