The Quire Lies Beyond
This photograph is of Canterbury Cathedral, Kent, England
This is one of the oldest churches in England. In the days of the monks, these gates would be shut against the public. Only the monks would have been allowed in the Quire. The Quire is a place of prayer.
I was so profoundly fortunate to be allowed access to the Cathedral after it was closed to the public and allowed to wander with my camera taking photographs at night. I was with a group of choristers from around the world and as I wandered, their magnificent voices washed over me singing "Kyrie Elision". It was one of the most magnificent experiences in my life.
