Description
The Runner mural part of the peoples gallery murals in Rossville Street of the bogside area of Derry Londonderry Northern Ireland. The murals painted by the Bogside Artists are an ongoing project since 1994 due to be completed in 2008. The murals depict key moments in the Northern Ireland troubles from a Derry perspective. The Bogside Artists are William Kelly, Tom Kelly and Kevin Hasson.
The Runner was painted in July 2006 to show a typical scene of young boy running from CS gas fired by British Troops, it also features memorial paintings of Manus Deery (15) and Charles Love (16) both innocent victims accidently killed in the troubles. Deery was killed by a ricochet bullet from a British Army sniper and Love was killed by fragments from an IRA bomb meant for British Troops.
