Description
This is a plein air oil painting I did on location at a tanning event I attended in Cornish, New Hampshire near the Connecticut river on a cold day in November.
I did two plein air works in between tanning procedures that day. The Tipi was set up in the field and was being lived in. They can be quite comfortable and efficient for any rugged individual who prefers to live with nature. This one is made of canvas. It was appealing to look at in the distant field with the evening light hitting it against
the forest background.
In the old days, women made, owned and erected the tipis of the Native American great plains tribes; often of hides or bark. The door always faced the rising sun, which acted as an alarm clock when it rose.
Look for more history on the tipi as they are really fascinating
portable homes.
It comes framed in a burnt copper Pianissimo frame. I can email and interested buyer a picture of the painting finished and framed.

Oh, how I love this special series dedicated to the great and wonderful Native American Indians. Painted so beautifully with a light drawing us into their world. What a tribute Nancy. F/L.

A revisit to this homage to the American Indian and what a tribute it is. I love your painterly method of displaying this emotional scene. This work, as all of your works do, speaks to me Nancy. F/L.

Nancy, you are like me with sailboats. I think tipis fascinate you and they do me too. What a great abode with the outer world surrounded by paint and those flecks of brilliant color glittering all about. Love this so much and the inviting feeling it gives me. F/L.

Randy thank you so much, when I paint on location I feel immediately in tune with nuances of color I am surrounded by, thank you for your kind words my friend and the l/f
