Description:

'Two Fishes'. Gongbi or 'academic style' painting in Chinese colors on silk, glued to rice paper then mounted onto canvas. In Buddhism the lotus flower stands for purity and compassion. The two fishes (as in Christianity) are also significant in that they stand for lasting happiness and release from the ocean of Samsara.
