Description
A commissioned portrait to celebrate the 93nd birthday of one of the ladies in this painting. She is pictured along with her sister, her brother and several other gentlemen and a Canadian soldier. For me, as the artist it was a privilege to go back in time and allow myself to become emotionally involved with these fine people,to immerse fully in the scene, to breathe the same air and to smile with these brave young individuals. I learned that they all came to Montreal from the Gaspe region of Quebec to find work and a new life. This painting depicts our bravest and greatest generation...In the words of author ,broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw :
''They knew the meaning of sacrifice, both in terms of material possessions and of real blood, sweat, and tears. They were humble men who never bragged about what they had done or been through. They were loyal, patriotic, and level-headed. They were our Greatest Generation.''

Sublime composition with the figures lined up, leading my eye into the street beyond. This is an artistic homage to those that served in years past. like/f

Carole -- a painting that has mystery and says something at the same time is what holds people -- this is an example --terrific!
