Description
There wont be Blood
Oil on canvas
18x24
The design of this painting was taken from Peggy Dietz photo (original glass print).
Peggy Dietzs Aunt and her friends were traveling across Kansas to Colorado back in 1913. They came across this old cable tool rig and stopped to take photos. This old rig was drilling at the time. They were watching it and were amaze of the pounding it was doing; it was said that they could feel it on the ground. In the glass print there was only the derrick and walking beam with the old sand line lever and their old car. Did a little research and was able to complete the old rig. With a double boiler and water tank visible. There were other rigs that you could see in the background on the right side.
Peggys Aunt said they were drilling near El Dorado Kansas. There was no name on the old rig that I could see from the print. Oil was discovered by Golden and Obins Stapleton number1 on October 6, 1915 at a depth of 2,497 feet. Stapleton number1, was discovery well for the great El Dorado Field, it became the most notable of all regional wells because it was located by scientific methods.
The reason I named this painting there wont be blood is because I wanted to show that ordinary people with dreams made it work with out killing one another. They were a breed of their own hard working and took chances and at times did lose their lives. So there could be blood but that of hard working individuals that traveled all over looking for the black gold known as oil people with true grit. Peggys aunt was just a person with true grit an independent woman with an eye for traveled and adventure. I am told that she traveled all over this country taking photos, looking at many different suites, who would of know that she was taking pictures of history being made. This is why I paint this industry; I am a part of it and want to preserve it on canvas.
Post script
There is some thing special about this painting I did add a little something to it. There are six places that I added a dash of RED in the shapes of blood drops just because of the movie There will be Blood can you fine them?

There are six places in this painting that I put six drops of blood (red paint). The flags on the guide wires and stakes are not it... To see them clearly you have to have a good size print...11x14... and up. use the green box to find them... Try to find them before you look to see where they are below... 1. Traveling block 2. Engine room 3. Boiler 1 4. Boiler 2 5. Signature 6. Necklace on little girl
