This beautiful coastal desert landscape scene shows how quickly a storm cloud can cover a clear blue sky. This was taken from the rocky beach between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, in Baja California Sur, Mexico. I think these cacti (member of the plant family Cactaceae within the order Caryophyllales) are cardon. The pretty vine with the pink flower clusters is San Miguel coral vine, Antigonon leptopus. It is native along washes, canyons and on slopes in Baja California & Sonora Mexico. It grows fast to 30-40' with heart shaped leaves, is naturally fire resistant, thrives in full sunlight, and can regrow from a tuber. I love it as a shower curtain to add scenic depth to a smaller room.
